Hofskirkja Church

Hofskirkja turf church is in Southeast, Iceland. The church and it's rural setting have a fairy-tale like quality. A layer of grass spills over the top of the small building. The building's front is board and batten and painted a subdued yellow. The front door and trim are painted forest green. A few steps in front of the church and lower in the frame, is a rock wall that is totally over grown with green moss. Along the top of the wall there is thick, green grass with a few clumps of red berries placed on it. To the left of the church a path leads to a break in the rock wall where there's a forest green, wood fence gate. The dark side of the fairytale seems apparent in this image. In the background a stormy sky and darker mountain loom over the scene with ominous overtones.
