Mount Moran Morning

In this panorama only clouds and the tops of dramatic looking, background mountains are receiving warm, dawn light, everything else is still in shade. The high vantage point allows the viewer to look out and down to the calm water of Oxbow Bend on the Snake River in the bottom left of the frame. The water reflects the lit mountains behind. The low atmosphere is full of moisture as evidenced by clouds at many elevations including puffy clouds in the sky and a few mountain peaks beginning to have fluffy clouds condense around them. Also, partway down some mountains a thin band of clouds exists. The right side of the image shows a foreground of sagebrush and yellow flowers giving way to a mid-ground of stands of trees and sagebrush fields on an undulating hillside whose highest reaches are partly shrouded in fog.
