Portland Head Light Sunset

This sunset view is from the top of a granite cliff, facing north, looking across a small bay to the Portland Head Lighthouse. The sun has set, no direct light is on the scene, but the clouds that fill the sky in the top third of the image are still lit and glowing yellow and pink. The rocky shoreline of the bay enters in the bottom right corner of the frame then curves left and creates a c shape ending in the upper left power point of the image. There, on top of a cliff on a small peninsula sits the white tower, black topped lighthouse which rises into the dramatic sky. Adjacent to it on the left is a massive white lighthouse keepers home with a red roof and just right of the tower is a red brick building. The photograph's exposure is a bit longer causing the ocean's wave froth to record as curving white lines that follow the shape of the shore.
