White Sands National Park

This photograph was taken from a high vantage point facing northeast and looking down on the scene just after sunrise. It was taken with a long lens and no sky is in the image. What is seen are dramatic looking buttes and mesas in the foreground and then layer after layer of buttes, ridges and mesas. Due to the angle of sunlight the layering is wonderful with each distant layer becoming lighter in tone than it's predecessor.
