Totem Pole

The Totem Pole is a lone rock spire in a series of rock spires in the desert landscape of Monument Valley, Arizona. The bottom two thirds of this predawn image shows sand ripples leading to the background, rock spires in the upper third of the image. A warm glow from the horizon, to the left, out of the scene, has caused the red sand and red rock spires to glow almost orangish.
