Mesquite Flat Ripples

This is a wide angle, black and white, vertical image taken in the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes of Death Valley National Park. The sun is at a low angle making shadows in the valleys of the sand ripples. Three quarters of this image shows the pronounced ripple pattern starting in bottom of the frame and it leads up to the top quarter which has a mass of dunes, then a sliver of mountains with a bit of cloudy sky at the top of the image.
