Lower Antelope Canyon

This vertical image was taken inside Lower Antelope Canyon which is a few feet wide and twenty to thirty feet deep. Through eons flash floods have carved sensuous curves in this striated red sandstone. This image was taken in the morning, when the sun only lights the upper edge of the canyon creating a lovely mix of hues from yellow to red to purplish and a wide range of tonal contrast. The camera is tilted back to photograph layers of beautifully sculpted walls that have pot hole style formations near the top of the canyon.
